As I’m sure you’ve heard Apple has recently released a new version of its mobile software (iOS7) for iPhone and 5th generation iPod touch users. The update is just a fraction of epic that is September 2013 which has been filled with hipster Christmases like Drake’s NWTS album leak and the real release of a new iPhone tomorrow. Although the 3.1 gigabytes needed to download iOS7 might not make is seem this way, the update is very subtle and while it doesn’t come with many technological advancements the user experience is taken to another level. You can tell Apple had the power users in mind when developing it. Those who think of using their phone for everything besides a phone will love all the little things that apple has put in. The biggest change is obviously the look and feel. The new OS is brighter and more vibrant with new effects for switching between apps and the home screen which really do have a nice touch. The only new built in app is the compass app which uses the phone’s accelerometer to act as a level. But, there are some cool features which as I said help the user experience a lot. First, the new notification center while it doesn’t do anything new the way it handles your notifications is better. Separating the calendar events, current notifications and missed events creates a clutter free notification center. Another key feature would have to be have to be the new control center which now handles quick music control, has toggles for airplane mode, WiFi, Bluetooth, do not disturb mode and auto-lock. It also has shortcuts to use the camera flash as a flashlight, the timer function in the clock app, the calculator app and to the camera app. The best part about the control center is that you can reach it from the lock screen which can be very useful if you need to quickly use the flashlight or something.
